Superpower study – Week 1 Day 3

These are my answers to the questions found in the study guide for the Superpower series. Join me – share your answers at the links provided below so I can consider them as I develop the sermons over the next five weeks.

Why is recognition of the source of our spiritual gifts key in using them as God intended?

Our gifts did not originate with ourselves, mere humans, created beings, but with The Spirit of God who gifts us out of his marvelous grace, undeserved and marvelous. That recognition of the divine source of our gifts delivers us from pride, without any basis for self-congratulations. Instead knowing God is the source of our abilities moves us to humility, a virtue pleasing to God and attractive to a lost world.

What examples can you recall of someone being a gift rather than merely having a gift?

Right now the face that rushes to my mind is Dick’s Best’s, a godly man who was an amazing gift to his wife, his kids, and his church. He showed me what it looks like to humbly serve by using his gifts to the full.
